FAQ

When to schedule a newborn session?

I highly recommend scheduling a tentative date with a session deposit at least 6-8 weeks before your due date. This helps with availability regardless of your baby’s arrival.  We will confirm an exact session date as your due date approaches or once baby has arrived. It is best to do the session when your baby is between 6-21 days old. The session will take about 2-3 hours, so be prepared with plenty of diapers, baby wipes and other necessities. I suggest bringing drinks and snacks so you can sit back and relax while I handle the rest.

How to prepare your baby for the session?

It is important to interact and keep him/her awake for 1-2 hours before the session to ensure they are nice and sleepy when they are at the studio. A helpful hint to keep them awake is to give a bath or a sponge bath before the session.  It is highly recommend to feed right before the photo session and a little more than normal in the 12 hours preceding the session. Be prepared to either breastfeed or bottle feed should they get fussy and/or hungry during the session. It is also helpful to bring a pacifier, even if your baby does not take a pacifier, it is recommended to bring one just in case. The studio is kept quite warm to keep your little one cozy so parents should dress accordingly to stay cool. The studio is sanitized and cleaned for each client. Props and accessories are washed and cleaned after every shoot. Safety is my top priority when handling your baby.

Can the session include parents and siblings?

Absolutely! Parents and siblings can also be in the photographs with the new family member.

Do you provide the props and the baby wear?

Yes! The studio has a large assortment of props, blankets, headbands, bonnets, hats, and outfits for both boys and girls. I tend to gravitate to colors such as beige, white, cream, heather grey, soft pinks, blues and lavenders. However, if you have a special request, just let me know before the session. Clients regularly ask what to wear and I suggest light colors such as white, ivory, cream or soft pastels. If you prefer dark colors I suggest classic black or navy. For children, I suggest tops with jeans and/or dresses for girls. Bright colors, busy patterns and pinstripes do not usually photography well.

How do you deliver the photos and what products do you offer?

Products offered include albums, custom frames and creative grandparent photo gifts. Most of my clients will choose a package that includes an album, a custom collage frame and web size digital photos for your social media use. Product offerings have been selected from talented photography vendors all around the world and can be seen at the studio. Each and every photo purchased is hand-edited in Photoshop. Along with basic color and exposure correction, I also use professional editing tools on the baby and parents to do such editing as: blemish removal fixing fly away hair, or flakey skin, and body contouring (by request). I want you to have the most beautiful images for display in your home to share with family and friends for years to come.

Do you offer milestone packages that include: maternity, newborn, 3-4 month, 6-9 month and 1st Birthday?

Yes, I provide a custom package that is put together for clients who are interested in having their baby’s 1st year documented. This is an exciting project to work on with your family and I love the relationship that is built throughout the year. It also helps the baby become more comfortable with me during each session and by the time the 1st Birthday comes around… We get the most amazing photos!
